Welcome to our blog! Let the adventures begin…
My name is Ro. I’m primarily a postgrad student studying Business, Event Management, and Communications, but there’s a lot more to me than just my studies! Passions include (but are by no means limited to): rock music, well-crafted sarcasm, and adrenaline-inducing sports. Basically anything that allows me to go crazy, gets my heart pumping, or has me terrified beyond all reason, and I am there! (Or if I haven’t done it yet, just show me the way!).
Nic is also a postgrad student, studying Yacht Engineering. She has a passion for sailing and travelling, and absolutely loves summer. She also has a massive sweet tooth! Seriously. There is likely to be a lot of posts from Nic about foods that will get your endorphins flowing and ensure you have a major sugar crash the following day. Either way, exciting experiences will ensue.
It may sound like we are worlds apart, but despite our different passions we are actually extremely similar. Some would even say we complement each other. Nic and I met when we were 12 and immediately bonded over punk music, a passion for war and history, and playing rugby at lunchtimes. We have been best friends ever since.
As for the blog…we are two twenty-something females who have just moved to “The Big Smoke” (aka Auckland city) from a much smaller town. We figure there must be a lot of people who can relate to this, so we hope to provide a useful (and entertaining) blog on the new places, events, and activities that we experience…Please join us on our journey as we attempt to find our feet in this foreign playground!
This blog was initially inspired by a cafe we recently visited on a Sunday morning, where the service and food instantly impressed us almost to the point of wanting to “shout it from the rooftops”. Instead, in an effort to be more “socially acceptable” (and less publicly humiliated), we chose today’s more conventional route of expressing strong opinions to the world…and decided to start a blog.
Since then, the blog idea has evolved to wanting to share everything that makes us experience excitement, happiness, or any other extreme emotion, as we explore our new city and attempt to broaden our horizons.
Finally, we will always welcome suggestions for places we should visit next or activities we should check out, so please feel free to get involved, share your ideas, and help us make this blog a place that people will love to visit!
